So much for time off...

So........where have I been and what have I been up to, you ask? Well, this week I'm on holidays, if you can call them that. Mr. D has gone to the Great White North, (man trip) and I'm home doing whatever a girl wants to. The only thing is I'm stuck with this.........my shadow.
Mr. Tibbs...who loves Lorna's Laces, and the camera.
And Duece couldn't let Mr. Tibbs have all the shots! Miss "P" came to keep Gramma company Saturday night, and we went to see Nanny and Papa and visit with the chickens, sheep and Elvis. This turned out to be a great way to wear out the dogs. I got this in the mail last week, Fleece Artist Nova sock yarn, perfect timing, with a whole week off work! You would think I could get something new going, but there are just too many other projects to finish first.
And in honor of Socktoberfest....I give you Monkey Socks, knit with Lorna's Laces. Lovely pattern, easy to remember.
And last but not least....
I fell into that old trap. You know the one, everyone at work knows you knit because that's all you talk about, right! They think you have extra knitted stuff just lying around the house, and ask if you could donate to the raffle for charity. Yeah, like I have extra stuff just lying around the house waiting for someone to give it to. So I started this lovely lacy scarf, with Kid Silkhaze, one ball.
I should have it blocking tonight, that's if the dog lets me knit!!!!!

So, I'm off to do some laundry, run some errands, grab a large Timmy, and sit on my "@$$" the rest of the afternoon and knit. And I might just order in for dinner.
Lady says " I like it when Daddy goes away, I have Mommy all to myself!"

"All I got to do is bark, and bark, and bark, and she'll get up and throw the ball for me."

Sounds good to me...

Thanks Wannietta!

You are The Empress

Beauty, happiness, pleasure, success, luxury, dissipation.

The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents,
beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home
decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.

The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.

Jully Black - Seven Day Fool

I haven't heard anything this good for a long time. This one is for you Lori!

Guild night....

It's raining off and on today, but the first Tuesday of the month again. Guild night. We're having a silent auction for charity, and every one is bringing in yarn and accessories. Can't wait.
The only problem is deciding what I can part with. This is not an easy task.

I've actually got my mojo back and have been working on my Lacy Tee Cardigan again. I'm up to the armholes and started the right front.

I've also started the pullover for the farm, but straight stockinette stitch gets to me after awhile....boring!!!!!!!! I need stimulation. But it's a paying job so it'll get done.

And in honor of Socktoberfest, I give you Seacoast Handpaint. Desert Rose and Cherry Fizz.
Purchased from Linda's ebay store. And no, it's not going in the auction.

25 September 2007

Warning.....picture heavy

First up presents:
1: License Renewal --$74 ( mandatory present to myself)

2: Presents from daughter: She knows her mother all too well.

I can't seem to get gauge, but we'll keep going or die trying.

3: Why is it that black cats are always attracted to white wool?

Really he's no help.

He really is cute, but a pain in the A%&*!

4: Mystery Stole 3 blocked and ready to wear.

I wasn't really sure about this pattern once I got to the wing part. But now that it's done I think I love the wing part the most.

Pattern: Mystery Stole 3: Swan Lake

Yarn: Jagger Spun 50% merino, 50% silk

Needles: Addi Lace needles 3.5mm

It's so very light and airy and it just makes me want to knit more shawls. Maybe this one or this one.
Knitting: PRICELESS!

Self protrait....

Samantha started a meme. She wants a self portrait. I don't do pictures unless absolutely necessary. So here goes.......... I give you Paula Red. I love September, fall is in the air, the first apples of the season come out and all I can think about is knitting.
I also received these lovely stitch markers from Alisha, one of her monthly blog contest. They are so cute! Thanks Alisha.

And yesterday I joined a new KAL. Fingerless Mitts for Fall. This one's a piece of cake compared to Mystery Shawl 3, which I'm blocking the wing end now.

Knitting shall commence now........

Socks & Mitts.....

It's been a productive weekend. The weather cooled right down so I got into the wool room and tidied up a little bit. I have got a lot of knitting to do.

This weekend I finished up Mr. "D's" socks. They've been hanging out in my carry around knitting bag for quite a while now, they only get knit on when we're out driving around.
Pattern: Gentleman's Plain Winter Sock from Nancy Bush's Knitting Vintage Socks

Yarn: Trekking XXL colour 62

Needles: 2.5mm bamboo

The only modifications I made were the heel. I knit my usual slip st heel.

I also made another pair of fingerless mitts for the farm. I modified the Fetching pattern, knit a thumb gusset and added stitches for a DK weight yarn.
Let me know if your interested and I'll write out my pattern and post it later.
I'm starting a headband of my own design too.

MS3 and Knitty.........

My Mystry stole 3 (aka: Swan Lake) is ready to block. I love the feathery pattern on the wing.
New Knitty is up! There are some really nice patterns this season.
Now I'm off to finish some acessories for the farm .
And if you hang in long enough you can hear the new single from Seether...Fake it!

My girl........

I didn't get to go to the Knitter's Fair on Saturday, but I did get to spend the day with the best flower girl in the world. Gramma loves ya, Miss "P".

7 September 2007

Guild night....

Tuesday night was a great turn out. We had some new faces and had a nice evening of introductions and show and tell of what we accomplished over the summer.

Next month were having a yarn auction, everyone is bringing some yarn, needles or books and all procedes will be donated to the Cancer Society.
And in November, Maureen Mason Jamieson will be joining us.
If anyone is interested in joining us you can find the information at our guild blog.

Kristin brought along my Kauni yarn. I think I'll be cake winding this week-end but I'm not sure when I'll be starting this sweater up. Too much on my plate right now.

I finished off Julie's shrug for the K-W Knitter's Fair tomorrow. I can only take credit for the ribbed band and the blocking. Julie knit the main piece.

You should feel this yarn ! Dream in Color, 100% superwash merino. Incredible!

My reward. Brand new Opal sock yarn, and fresh off the tree Paula Red apples. First of the season. I love Fall!

It's not easy being green...

You Are a Green Crayon

Your world is colored in harmonious, peaceful, natural colors.
While some may associate green with money, you are one of the least materialistic people around.
Comfort is important to you. You like to feel as relaxed as possible - and you try to make others feel at ease.
You're very happy with who you are, and it certainly shows!

Your color wheel opposite is red. Every time you feel grounded, a red person does their best to shake you.
Dead ON!

31 August 2007

Multi-directional anyone.......

I just finished the multi-directional scarf (free pattern) for Julie , just in time for the Knitter's Fair next Friday. This one was quick and a lot of fun.

The colours are gorgeous. Yarn is Trendsetter Tonalita , 4 balls, and 5.5mm needles.

And it's nice having a live model too. "Gosh she looks so much like her mother!"

25 August 2007

Another project finished.....

There's something to be said about having a real live model, but here it goes anyway.

Pattern: "Pike" free from Berrocco

Yarn: Peruvia 100% highland wool from Berrocco, 5 skeins

Needles: 6mm (10 US)

All in all, the pattern knit up pretty fast. No sleeves to deal with. The yarn is lovely to work with and blocked beautifully. You have to pay attention to the way it's sewn together. It's different than normal contruction.

It's not my cup of tea (fashion wise), but hey, I just have to knit it not wear it. So I'm off to deliver it to Julie and pick up Miss "P". Maybe she'll let me get some knitting done this weekend.

23 August 2007

...laughing hysterically!

I just read the funniest entry on Brenda Dane's site. Check it out and grab a badge.
I think there's a couple there for me.

16 August 2007

...and let the games begin!

It was like a wild feeding frenzy!Women everywhere, men waiting patiently by their cars. Skeins of yarn flying wildly all around.
I got to meet Wannietta and Amanda, finally.
I think I did pretty well. I see some felting in my future. And a poncho for Miss "P".
I told Mr. "D", "She who dies with the most stash wins!" (He's always used that phrase about fishing tackle.)
Gosh I'm exhausted. I need to lie down.

6 August 2007

...love long weekends!

There's just something sweet about having an extra day off. Waking up on Monday morning at 8am to a quiet house (man and dog gone fishing), having breakfast in your jammies on the back deck, listening to the neighbors parrot whistling one line to "Oh Canada" over and over again.

Having the laundry done and the bathroom cleaned previously, I knit and I knit and I knit!
I did stop for half an hour to rest my hand and cleaned out the oven. (One more dirty job done)

Mr "D's first sock is done. It's mostly worked on in the car while he drives so it's slow going. But I have found at least a dozen other patterns I'm dying to start so I'd like to get this one done.

Miss "P" and I went to "Julie's house" on Friday to pick up a new project for the store, but I didn't get much done on it while she was here. I made up for that on Sunday, the back is done and I started one front today.

Pattern and yarn are from Berroco and I'll post the details when it's finished.
Looks like MS3 will be on hold for a little while.
