This weekend just flew by. Between getting orders ready to go out tomorrow and laundry and house cleaning, I did manage to get a little knitting done.
Boss Cat came by on Saturday with several quarts of strawberries, so the jammin' was on.
We made 3 batches of strawberry jam and still have several quarts left to freeze down for over the winter.
So it's back to work tomorrow with the holiday on Thursday, so that seems to be a good day to dye up some more yarn (Mr "D" is planning on going fishing). We have an order of Slinky Cat and Fluffy Cat coming, and we'll have some more lace back in the shop very soon.

Update....
Well, it looks like it's time for an update. We'll be introducing a new member to the WCY family....."Barn Cat". This base is similar to our House Cat 100% SW fingering, except there's nylon added. It's an 80/20% Merino/Nylon SW fingering weight with the same 2 ply twist as the House Cat.
Why "Barn Cat", because it's a little tougher than our House Cat, and more twisted than our "Alley Cat".
Here's a preview of some of the colours that will be going up on Friday, sometime in the afternoon.

Winner...........
We have a winner... Splinderella (rav name) is the winner of our anniversary contest. Congratulations, we hope you enjoy the pattern and yarn.
Today was just one of those days, when I just wanted to sit and knit, but everything else caught up to me. Laundry, vacuuming, dusting, sweeping and mopping. But it's done now.
Boss Cat did little bit of dyeing while I did mostly administrative work (and a little guidance and motherly opinions thrown in). We'll have some more stock going up in the shop over the next couple of days so keep checking in.
And in WCY news, we'll be introducing "Barn Cat", it a 80/20 SW merino/nylon blend. It's tougher than our "House Cat", and a little more twisted than our "Alley Cat".

One year already....
Boss Cat and I realized we are coming up on our 1 year WCY anniversary. Boy has it gone by too fast. Right now we're in negotiations for a celebratory giveaway contest, and we'll let you all in on the details very soon.
In the meantime, I'm on my last couple of days of vacation and it back to work. I have managed to do a lot of what I planned and absolutely no housework (except maybe the laundry). Yesterday Mr. "D" and I went to the Bay of Quinte fishing, which meant lots of knitting time in the truck. I managed to get half a sleeve done on Julie's project, but unfortunately I got nothing knit in the boat because we had a very successful fishing day.
Perfect weather, picnic lunch, and a very well behaved dog.
And to finish off my vacation week I have my Cascading Leaves Socks (rav link) done with our House Cat Superwash. I love this yarn, and we're going to try some with nylon in it.
I'm hoping to finish up the rest of the knitting for Julie's sweater too, but I must re-skein some Fluffy Cat for the shop first.

Ravelry......
Boss Cat and I just wanted to let everyone know that we finally got around to starting our own group on Ravelry. We would love all Wandering Cat fans to pop on over and visit us once in awhile. We'll post all of our news, updates, new colours and such and we'd love to see all your projects pics too.

The Cats are back............
Top Cat and Slinky Cat are back. We were temporarily out of stock, but we are back in business. We are trying to do more than one skein of each colour in these bases because they are so nice for shawls. Several shades were added today and we'll have some more over the summer. Hopefully "Boss Cat" will find some time in her busy schedule to come over and play.
My first week of vacation is over but have I got a lot done. I have one sleeve and the top of the front left to do on Julie's project. I had 2 days of straight knitting time in the car while Mr "D" did the driving, and I'm pleased with my progress.
I had plans to start a new cardigan for Robo, but unfortunately the yarn I planned to use (Rowanberry Stray Cat) sold this weekend so it will have to wait till I dye some more. The little monkey turned 2 yesterday and I better get to it before she grows anymore. I don't know where the last 2 years went.
I have one more week off work, so I'm hoping to finish Julie's sweater by then. I have so many things on my list I want to do and not enough hours in the day to do them. Wish me luck.

Shades of Summer............
Well, after our dud of a day at the festival, we've put everything up in the shop. This is just a small sample of what we updated today. House Cat Superwash merino.
We've also added some Big Cat Worsted and Fat Cat DK.
The one good thing that did come out of our day on Saturday was uninterrupted knitting time. I thought it was high time I knit with some House Cat. I've had a skein squirreled away for myself for awhile.
One sock down and one more to go......this yarn is so squishy, and I love the twist too.
Details are on my rav project page.
Now I'm off work for 2 weeks and my main goal is to finish Julie's project.........until our new supply comes in, of course.(insert evil laugh here)

New Cat in town..............
Boss Cat and I finally got around to dyeing up some Big Cat. It's our Superwash worsted weight and it big and squishy and we will definitely be doing some more of this. For now there are just a few skeins in the shop. Port, Aegean, Strawberry Swirl, and Forget-me-Not
We also snuck in some Stray Cat just for good measure. Lil' Boy Blue, Kaia, and a yet to be named colour.

Saturday is dye day...........
Well, this week was the longest ever. But Saturday finally came and Boss Cat and I got busy. We have a new batch of Alley Cat dyed, dried, skeined up and ready to put in the shop. Most likely tomorrow.
I did manage to buy myself a little present with my destash money, one hot sexy new camera. Not that there was anything wrong with my old camera, but I got tired of Boss Cat taking crappy pictures and she got the old one. So here's hoping she put up some better shots of those naughty cats.

Everyone's a winner....................
Congratulations Minding My Own Stitches! She gets a sock blocker key chain and gets to choose a skein of yarn from the shop!
And, since there were only a few entrants, but they were so generous, we've decided to give the others a skein of yarn too! So congrats to Smoking Hot Needles and Restless Needles!
With your help Miss Pee was able to raise $110 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Thank you so much!

Update.....
I had to post this picture, because everytime I look at it I giggle. This is our Robo. I really dislike cellphone pics, but this one needed to be captured right away.
Just in case you didn't see Boss Cat's blog we have some new House Cat in the shop. We're hoping to dye up some Alley Cat and Fat Cat this weekend.

She learned everything she knows from her grandmother.
Thanks in advance for your participation!

It must be in the genes......
I think when your raising your children, you wonder if they're paying attention to anything you say (especially teenagers). Especially the one who says "I don't have to learn to knit, my mother will make it for me."
It's one thing when your knitting for small children, and you don't have a job outside the home. You can crank out a lot of child size articles. But there comes a time when, mommy has to go to work, and her children are wearing adult size clothing. Mother doesn't have the time do knit stuff for herself, let alone other adults in her life.
Well Boss Cat has come a long way, from that little girl, and realized that she would have to pick up the needles, if she wanted anything hand knit for herself.
So today....Mother's Day....made me realize that children do listen to their parents on some level.
This is what I received for Mother's Day.
Frozen Leaves Shawl, knit with our own Wandering Cat Slinky Cat yarn. I am honored. Thank-you Valerie, it will always be treasured.
And on that note, I also knit a shawl for my mother...
Pattern: Springtime Bandit
Yarn: Wandering Cat Fluffy Cat in Avalon
Needles: 4mm
This pattern is originally done with a worsted yarn, but I wanted to use the Fluffy Cat fingering, so I knit 7 repeats of the first pattern and 1 of the edge pattern and used just less than 1 skein of yarn. I started last Sunday night and finished it this past Saturday. Just enough time to block and dry it before I delivered it to my MOM. (Remind me not to do that again.)
I am now returning to previous knitting projects not yet done.

Just a quick post.....
then it's back to the knitting. Obviously, I'm not the only one who forgot Mother's Day is only a few short days away, so I promised myself I would stay off the computer and knit till the cows come home.
I did manage to finish up my socks this weekend, and if you really want a quick pair to knit up as a gift these are the ones.
Pattern: Duckies (free on ravelry)
Yarn: Wandering Cat Stray Cat in Grasshopper
Needles: 3.25mm
I still have about 60 yds left from the skein, so you could make the cuff longer if you like.
Now, back to the knitting,....lets see if I can keep to my schedule.

Soft as a kitten...........
I put all of "Boss Cat's" Fluffy Cat in the shop today. I must say she did do a good job without me, but I did notice a few splashes of dye on my brand new walls. She'll never change. She's still a messy child. I keep telling myself, it's just her creativity coming out, but I know in my heart, she's just plain old messy.
I will say, I love this bunch. She did 2 of each colour in semi-solids, so there's enough to do a fair sized shawl. There's Winter Wheat, Rumpelstiltskin, Pink Pearl, English Ivy, Morning Glory, Topaz and Brick House. And seeing as she left me no Fluffy Cat to dye I did the last of the Slinky Cat.
This is Mint Julep.
And this is Black Watch, but this one has gone into my personal stash, for a pre-planned project.

Update....
The new colours are up in the shop now.....
Slinky Cat in Marigold, Powder Puff, and Sugar Plum Fairy
Fluffy Cat in Avalon, Aurora, and Sky
There is also more Fluffy Cat drying (because someone had to be a piggy and dye it all by herself). It will be up in a few days.
We're still waiting for our shipment of Alley Cat and House Cat and as soon as it gets here we'll be back in the studio.

Impromtu.....
Boss Cat and I had an impromtu dye session this afternoon. It started off with 2 skeins to be over-dyed and then it became more. We're just waiting for our other shipment of Alley Cat and House Cat to arrive, then look out. Who knows what'll happen.
