Boo...

Just because I haven't been blogging doesn't mean I haven't been knitting. I'm actually knitting stuff for myself. I know it's hard to believe. I have so many projects waiting in the wings.
First: One sleeve done, one more to go.
Second: My Pomatomus socks. These shouldn't be that hard! I have ripped this back 3 times now. I DON'T RIP BACK!!! What is wrong with me. But, now that I have calmed down, I think I have it figured out. I really would like to get these done before I take Cookie A's class in October. I don't want her thinking I'm a total loser.
And lastly, I have been learning the fine art of stalking Wollmeise. It is a very sly creature, but after watching other Ravelers, and lurking about, I've finally snagged a few skeins.
One day I might even unskein it and knit with it.
Oh, and thanks to whoever keeps using my camera when my back is turned. I found these on it today. You know who you are!!!!!!!

Finally...

The baby can come now, the knitting is done. I didn't think I was ever going to finish this one, but I did. This one is for a friend that is due in 2 weeks.
I still think this will be one of my all time favorite patterns.
Pattern: Rippled Baby Blanket by MoreThanOneWay (free pattern)
Yarn: Sirdar Snuggly DK 7--50g balls
Needles: 4.5mm

I went to a 4.5mm this time instead of a 4mm just to give it a lighter feel.

Eye Candy Friday...

Sometimes I just can't help myself......
Do they have a 12-step program for this????

26 April 2009

Don't blink...

because before you know it the weekend is over.

Friday was a family service, not the best of days, but you do get to see family you haven't seen in a long time. And of course there is an upside, this small town had a yarn shop, The Purple Sock. Unfortunately, she doesn't have a website, but if you get the chance to visit Coldwater, Ontario, I sure you'll find something you'll like.
Saturday was very warm for April, so it was spent outdoors with family we don't see often. Teasing my older brother about having a midlife crisis.Teaching babies that dog bones are not a good substitute for teething rings, but tea towels and milk bags will substitute for diapers when daddy drives off with the disposables.Collecting eggs for Nanny and then letting the wind blow them away and telling her it's okay cause the sun will turn them into fried eggs.Sunday, spent in the kitchen, because it's Leo the Leopards 5th birthday and grampa thought it would be a great idea to make birthday cupcakes. (then immediately went outside to the garage)!!!

Now I will get back to regularly schedule knitting time. I think I need some quiet time.

Green..

Well, I finally finished the Green Socks. This was some Cherry Tree Hill sock yarn that was the brightest lime green I have ever seen. Valerie over dyed it with blue, and this is what we got.

Pattern: Hedgerow By Jane Cochran (free pattern)
Yarn: Cherry Tree Hill Sock (over dyed with blue)
Needles: 2.5mm
It is a great pattern, simple 4 row repeat (mindless for me). So, of course I made them in her size. She modeled them for the pictures and immediately snatched them away. I will never see these again.

More you say?....

Last week I delivered 3 more Thorpes to Leslie. Did I say how much I love this pattern?Everyone must make at least one!!!Pattern: Thorpe (rav link) free pattern
Yarn: 100% Alpaca (double to get gauge)
Needles: 5.5mm

Julie's shawl is done. The original in the pattern is done in Dawn 2ply Lace, but Julie wanted this one in bamboo and on larger needles. It turned out pretty nice if I do say so myself. Pattern: Leaf Shawl (rav link) by Naturally reduced to 77 stitches
Yarn: Atlante 100% Bamboo by Naturally 50g balls -4
Needles: 5.5mm
Both can be purchased at The Needle Emporium.

And since I had 5 days off in a row for Easter I whipped this up for friends expecting their first baby next month.

Pattern: Babies and Bears (rav link) by Cottage Creations

Yarn: Beehive Baby Sport 85g-- 1 ball
Needles: 3.75mm
I love this pattern and I will definitely make more. The yarn was not my favorite (a little splity), but the colours won me over.

Whoa....

I just finished reading Cookie A's new book cover to cover. I think this is going to be my favorite sock book. There isn't one pattern in it I don't like. YEAH!!

One down...

I finished the Cat Mittens for you know who.
I've got one more Thorpe done for Leslie. I'm feeling a little deja vu here.
Julie's shawl is half done, I think.

And I'm sick again. It just won't go away.

Oh, and Ravelry is keeping me from my knitting and blogging!

24 March 2009

I love Tuesday....

I know, I haven't blogged for a bit, but I've been busy.

First: I had to start another pair of cat mittens for my daughters friend. A retirement gift.
(one day she'll stop asking me and do it herself)
Second: I delivered Julie's last project and picked up another. I love this Bamboo. Very silky!
Third: While I was delivering said project, I had to get one for myself. Julie has this gorgeous
cardigan in the store in just my colours, and it found it's way home with me.

Funny how that happens. Sorry Julie, but I had to start it. It was staring me down.
So back to business, knitting all evening with Bond, James Bond!!

My munchkin....

Rowan is definitely living up to her name!

Checking out Gramma's stash!

#3 done...

I have the day off so I'm finishing up projects.
#3 for Julie is done, and though I can't say I enjoyed this one so much, it was an interesting knit. I turned this.....into this!
Pattern: Trapeze Tank sz small

Yarn: Maya / Tahki Yarns 4--50g skeins
Needles: 8mm

My only recommendations are to knit this on straight needles. I started it with circs but ripped and started over. I found with the large slubs of yarn, it was to hard to get an even tension.
Then everything was smooth sailing.
Except for photographing! Someone always has to interfere.

Julie's House...

Julie's house is a dangerous place to go!!!!

I just traded in my 4-door sedan....

for a new Cadillac!!!I'll let you know how they ride.

#2 done...

This one was a complete pleasure to knit. I even love the colourway.

Pattern: Fitted Tank--by Alison Williams for Blue Sky Alpacas
Yarn: Lang Yarns Panarea 5--50g ball for the medium size colour 62
Needles: 5.5mm (9US)
Gorgeous ribbon yarn.

I think the pictures say it all.
