Springtime Colours!

I can't remember who's blog I was reading at the time, but they were making socks with Marion's Hand dyed sock yarn. Of course, I had to check it out. I found them on e-bay, and it was just like letting a kid loose in a candy store. How could I resist. I bought Summertime and Pink Lily, and she also had some new shades of Opal so I got one of those too. They are sooooooooo soft, I can't wait to try them, but I will resist for now till my other Opal socks are done.

On another note the green suede shawl is almost done, I just have to wait for my daughter to come this weekend for her approval on the width and length.
The baby cardigan is a slow go because of other distractions, but that's okay, because my friend finally got the girl she always wanted ( she just didn't know she would have to wait for a granddaughter). I'm tossing around a few ideas to do something with pink on the bottom instead of the plain white.












Knit On!

Tough week at work.

I haven't had a lot of time to knit this week. It's just been one of those weeks so far.
I'm finishing up a sweater for Julie's customer. It's just a matter of putting all the pieces together.
My darling daughter came home with 3 balls of Lion Brand suede and a crocheted shawl pattern on the ball band that she so desperately wanted. But guess what she doesn't crochet. So down to business I got. I did about 5 rows and it just felt to stiff to me so I ripped it out and played around with my knitting needles and got this:

I'll share the pattern once I'm done and actually write it out.


On another note, keeping the peace in the family is always a good thing. Look what I let the love of my life do to my truck! First a dog and now a truck cap!
Egads. What next!

Fiona Ellis was here!

Tonights guild meeting was great. I think alot of people came away with some new knowledge on cables. Fiona was a delight. Her new book is amazing, and is on my next book to get right away list. She brought all of the sample sweaters for us to look at up close and personal.

On left is Samantha , working diligently on her swatch. The middle is Adryanna, who out shone us all. And last but not least is Samantha's sister Vicki, who is learning cables for the first time. We were very impressed. Happy Birthday Vicki!

Sock Yarn Sale!

I promise, I was only going to take my mother to Len's Mill store in Port Dover so she could buy some sock yarn. I was thinking I'll just pick up two balls of pink for gift socks, and what do you know, there was a sale. Looks like they were clearing out for new stock coming. It was marked down to $1.80 a ball. That little voice in my head was saying "you have enough sock yarn", the other voice whispering in my ear was saying "your not going to find that price again" "buy it, buy it". So what do you do? There's your mother grabbing everything on the shelf, and your standing there arguing with yourself. YES! NO! YES! NO!
So as you guessed I broke down. Gave into my compulsion. If anything they'll make great inexpensive gift socks for Christmas.






On another note, as Samantha noticed I finished the Seamless Yoked Baby sweater. And a pair of booties to match. The pattern for the booties was simple enough, that I could slip the pattern from the sweater into them.

Now I have to start my swatch for the Knitting Guild homework for Tuesday night and decide which other baby sweater to do next, and maybe work on my Opal socks.

Rain, Rain go away!

What's the best thing to do on a rainy Sunday with a 2-1/2 year old?
A hot cup of Tim Hortons, fresh baked muffins, a colouring book and crayons and a silly face.
Needless to say I didn't get very much knitting done. I'll have to make up for it tonight.

I couldn't make it to the Knitter's Frolic, (sorry Julie), but I won't be missing the Tent Sale , or the Knitter's Fair in September. By then I'll probably be needing a yarn fix!

Life is Good!

What a perfect day! I was finished work at 1PM, and we took the dog out to the conservation area for a walk.

April from Coffee Crazy Knitters asked for pictures of Knitting in Motion, so here's mine! There's nothing quite like knitting and walking the dog at the same time. She's around somewhere.

I recently found out that two different friends are going to be grandmothers for the first time, so out comes baby patterns. I decided to do the
Seamless Yoked Sweater that Samantha and Jen have done. It comes highly recommended. I'm using Sirdar Snuggly Baby Care DK left over from Miss P's fall sweater.

I got this nice surprise in the mail yesterday, but I promised myself I wouldn't start it till I have my Winter Sunset cardigan done. For now I'll just have to look at it. There's even enough yarn for the tam, but I don't think it's me.

And how cute are these ! They're almost dry and ready to make shine.

Extra long weekend!

There's nothing quite like working for a company that has Easter Monday off too! That meant a four day weekend to do nothing but knit, knit, and then some more knitting.
First Julie's sweater is done.

4. I started the red dancing slippers so "Miss P" can dance with Dorothy and Toto.
They will be felted tonight.









5. I started a new sock from the toe up this time, using Wendy's generic toe up pattern. I'm still deciding on what I will do on the top. Maybe the feather and fan stitch.









6. Tossed in is my cable and lace pullover. And Russell had to say "hello".


Mr. Tibbs says "hahaha you can't get me, dumb dog"!

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!

Just when you think you have the whole day to knit, everyday life rears it's ugly head! Floors to be mopped (messy dog paws), laundry to wash, grocery shopping (after washing out the fridge and realizing there really isn't any food in it after throwing out all the old leftovers), scrubbing down the bathroom, and I almost forgot walking the puppy.
How can you resist that face!



















I did get the hedgehogs finished for Julie. Thank-you Valerie for putting on the faces.

We went for a little drive yesterday and I did manage to get some more of my second Jaywalker sock done. I'd like to get this done soon because I have my new Opal yarn staring me in the face.

Got Mail!

Nothing like getting a box of yarn in the mail. This box of 18 balls of Wool Gatto was purchased from Carissa's stash sale for a mere $60. What a deal.














Now I have to get moving so I can use it. I have one Jaywalker finished and the other started.
I have one sleeve and the collar left for Julie's sweater. And she also asked me to make another hedgehog and felt hers.

Oh, and I started my cable and lace sweater. I also have to think about finishing my Winter Sunset cardigan. One sleeve and the front bands and collar to do.

There just isn't enough hours in the day. Good thing hubby's cooking tonight!

Almost forgot the cuteness factor!

Decisions, Decisions!

Salsa (a.k.a. Curry) is done! He will be joining the others on the back of the couch till I can figure out where to put them.










I did find a cat who really enjoyed the cat bed. Duece came for the weekend and loved it so it went home with him.
He was a little shy at first, but warmed up before he went home.











I received my Classic Elite pattern bookBoathousetoday. Looks like I'll be starting my new Cable and Lace sweater. I have someDebbie Bliss cotton cashmere just waiting for it.
